Champaign County drivers should expect a railroad crossing closure and several state route lane restrictions, according to information published by Peak of Ohio.
The Ohio and Indiana Railway is scheduled to shut the State Route 296 crossing between Upper Valley Pike and U.S. Route 68 starting Monday, October 12, through Friday, October 16. Traffic will be detoured from U.S. Route 68 to U.S. Route 36 and then to State Route 29.
On State Route 55 between Old Troy Pike and U.S. Route 68, intermittent one-lane periods are planned from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. while crews repave. Flaggers will control movement, and the project is scheduled to last through October. State Route 29 between State Route 235 and State Route 560 also faces intermittent single-lane restrictions from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. for repaving, with flaggers present and work continuing through October. State Route 245 between Brush Lake Road and Gilbert Road will have similar intermittent single-lane closures from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. for repaving, also with flaggers and an October completion target.
U.S. Route 68 between State Route 55, or Lewis B. Moore Drive, and Springfield Pike will have lane restrictions from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for resurfacing. Flaggers will direct traffic when needed, and the project is expected to continue through fall.
Officials advise drivers to use caution in work zones, allow extra time and watch for changing traffic patterns. Current conditions are available at OHGO.com.
