Cincinnati Parks announced that its annual Halloween Hikes will take place Oct. 16 and 17, according to a news item posted Sept. 17, 2026.
The Friday program is built around eight interactive character stations, with groups moving between stops for stories and hands-on activities. Topics include photosynthesis, presented by the Green Witch/Wizard; a debate among the Four Seasons Sisters about which season is best; and Mother Nature's preparation of animals for winter. Park officials describe the character experiences as popular with children ages 3-10.
Saturday's offering is a trail walk only, with no characters. A campfire will be available so some family members can remain behind while others hike, and the route will feature lit pumpkins and luminaires. That evening is described as self-paced and quieter.
The park agency states that the original Magic Forest Halloween Hikes began in 1980, started by naturalist Vivian Wagner at Caldwell, and that both nights originally focused on the characters. The event is described as non-scary and educational about nature.
