Clinton County voters approved a five-year renewal of a 2.35-mill property tax that pays for services to older residents, according to unofficial results reported by the county board of elections.
The tally was 10,790 in favor and 4,412 opposed, with 15,202 ballots cast on the question, the board reported. The renewal does not raise the current rate.
According to the News Journal, the measure funds home-delivered meals, personal care, medical transportation, homemaker help, minor emergency home repairs and caregiver respite.
Beginning in 2027, the levy is expected to raise about $2.7 million a year across its five-year term; the first tax bills would come in 2028. For a home appraised at $100,000, the annual cost is $57.
Clinton County Job and Family Services Director Nicole Rodman discussed the levy at a Sept. 24 Sabina Village Council meeting, the newspaper reported. She said it supplies 96% of the funding for the Clinton County Elderly Services Program, which assisted 643 residents aged 65 and older in 2025. The Council on Aging runs the program under a contract with county commissioners.
