According to a City of Columbus bulletin, officials plan to open Domestic Violence Awareness Month with an evening lighting ceremony at City Hall on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, beginning at 6 p.m. at 90 W. Broad St.
The bulletin lists City Attorney Zach Klein, Ohio Women Against Domestic Violence and the Columbus Office of Violence Prevention as participants in the annual event. Organizers say the theme for the year is Silence Ends Here.
According to the announcement, City Hall will be illuminated in purple as part of the ceremony, and those attending are asked to wear purple as a show of support for survivors, advocates and service providers.
The bulletin also notes that October is the designated awareness month, while outreach and education efforts continue year-round. It directs readers to highlights from DV 101, described as a joint awareness campaign involving the city attorney's office, the Franklin County prosecutor's office and the city's Office of Violence Prevention.
The announcement did not include a program schedule, expected duration or accessibility information for the ceremony.
