Dayton's City Commission approved a $3.4 million contract on Sept. 30, clearing the way for an overhaul of the city's splash pads, per a city announcement.
Six existing splash pads will receive new equipment: Fairview, Five Oaks, Mallory, McIntosh, Stuart Patterson and Walnut Hills Parks.
At Washington Park, the splash pad is to be relocated and updated, while another splash pad is planned for the Belmont Park/Lohrey Recreation Center site.
Both the six-park equipment replacement and the Washington Park relocation fall under the same contract. In all, seven existing splash pads are affected, and an eighth location will gain a pad.
City officials expect the work to wrap up by May 15, 2027.
The Dayton Recovery Plan, described by the city as its framework for investing federal American Rescue Plan Act money, is paying for the project.
The announcement did not specify a construction start date, a contractor, a roll-call tally or a per-site cost breakdown.
Details come from the city's own published notice; this brief reflects that notice and does not constitute independent reporting.
