Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter will offer free dog microchipping on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Tri-C Western Campus, 11000 Pleasant Valley Road in Parma. The county's Sept. 30 announcement says the clinic is open to Cuyahoga County residents who own dogs. No appointment is needed, service runs first come, first served, and the clinic will be held regardless of weather.
Jen Huettich, manager of external affairs for the shelter, said in the release that owners should prepare for the possibility of a lost dog, and that a microchip combined with a license for the current year offers the quickest route to a reunion if a missing animal ends up at a shelter. The county did not say how many dogs it expects to handle.
Every dog chipped at the event will be registered in a national microchip database, according to the announcement. The county presented the clinic as a way to draw attention to microchipping and licensing as more dogs arrive at shelters.
People seeking lost or adoptable pets can check the shelter's website, cuyahogadogs.com. Public hours at the shelter are 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. The listed media contact is Jennifer Ciaccia, press secretary, at 216-250-5863.
