Fulton County commissioners approved two resolutions on Oct. 14 asking the county Budget Commission to stop collecting part of two levies, according to a county news release. The vote was unanimous.
Together the suspensions would reduce property tax collections by $4.764 million for tax year 2026, with those taxes payable in 2027, the release states.
One measure, Resolution 2026-662, concerns the levy that supports the Fulton County Board of Developmental Disabilities, seeking to suspend 1.6 of its 2.6 mills. The second, Resolution 2026-663, would suspend 1.5 mills of the county's 2.0-mill inside millage. Both were pursued under Ohio Revised Code Section 5705.24.
Commissioner Vice-President Jeff Rupp described the inside-millage action as unprecedented locally, and said the county can still meet its obligations while offering relief. The county said the resolutions followed discussions with the Fulton County Auditor about its finances.
Property owners would save roughly $108.50 for each $100,000 of valuation, per the release.
The release does not say when the Budget Commission will consider the suspension requests, which must be acted on for the reductions to take effect.
