CLEVELAND — The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority is advising baseball fans to use public transit for the American League Championship Series games between the Cleveland Guardians and the Tampa Bay Rays at Progressive Field. According to GCRTA, the games are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 15, Friday, Oct. 16, and Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026.
GCRTA says riders can reach the ballpark by taking the Rapid to Tower City Station and using the Walkway to Rocket Arena, then walking outside to Progressive Field. The agency says the Walkway opens four hours before each game. Trains are described as frequent, and parking at stations is free. HealthLine and downtown-bound buses also serve Public Square.
Fares listed by GCRTA include a $2.50 one-way fare and a $5 all-day pass, available at ticket vending machines or the EZfare mobile app. The agency says $5 all-day passes can be bought at Tower City Station with contactless payment, Google Pay or Apple.
GCRTA warns that a Green Line shutdown from Oct. 13 through Oct. 17, 2026, will change service. Blue and Green Line trains will run between Warrensville-Van Aken and Tower City, with 15-minute frequency along Van Aken Boulevard, while #68R buses will run every 30 minutes between Green Road and Shaker Square. Riders who usually park at Green Road may want to use stations along Van Aken Boulevard instead. GCRTA says the games are expected to draw thousands downtown and urges riders to plan ahead and leave early.
