WHIO-TV reports that organizers in Darke County have reopened a Greenville facility that provides emergency assistance and shelter. The site had been closed, but the program continued helping families across the Miami Valley by finding temporary housing in other regional shelters, according to the station.

The organization collaborates with the Domestic Violence Services Program to provide crisis support and shelter resources. Megan Campbell, director of the Darke County Office of the Miami Valley Community Action Partnership, said the reopening was handled with responsible service delivery rather than speed alone. She described it as a significant local milestone.

Courtney Griffith, director of the Domestic Violence Services Program, said people seeking help may be leaving domestic abuse, looking for someone to listen, or facing homelessness while trying to enter a shelter. She said services include more than housing and a round-the-clock hotline.

Griffith also said staff preparation includes structured training. According to her, each team member completes 40 hours of instruction in domestic violence advocacy basics through the Ohio Domestic Violence Network, plus trauma-informed care and crisis intervention training.
