Henry County officials held a ribbon cutting for the new U.S. 24 interchange at County Road 17D near Okolona, The Crescent-News reported Sept. 18.
E.S. Wagner Co. built the interchange over two construction seasons. The newspaper reported a cost of $12.3 million, with much of the funding coming from the Ohio Department of Transportation.
ODOT District 2 deputy director Pat McColley described the work as part of broader safety improvements along U.S. 24 in Henry and Defiance counties. The interchange replaces an intersection where traffic previously met at road level.
At the ceremony, striping and some bridge-surface work remained. The report said opening could follow as early as the next day; it did not confirm that traffic had begun using the interchange. Drivers should consult current ODOT updates for access and closures.
