Voters across Allen, Auglaize and Putnam counties will find local contests and tax questions alongside statewide races on the Nov. 3 ballot, according to WLIO.
Three Ohio House seats are contested. In the 74th District, Speaker Matt Huffman, a Republican, faces Democrat Jeff Givan; the seat covers Allen County and part of Auglaize County, the station reported. The 82nd District race includes Republican Roy Klopfenstein, Democrat Maddux McCray and Libertarian Christopher Elder, representing Putnam, Van Wert, Paulding and part of Defiance counties. In the 84th District, Republican state Rep. Angie King faces Democrat Arienne Childrey; that district takes in Mercer County and portions of Auglaize and Darke counties.
Allen County Commissioner Brian Winegardner, a Republican, is opposed by Democrat Lew Modic. Within Lima, voters will decide whether Mayor Sharetta Smith may buy or accept donated property for the Cable Road project.
Renewal levies are sought by Lima and Delphos city schools, the Spencerville and Perry school districts, and Monroe, Perry and Sugar Creek townships. Wapakoneta requests a 2-mill parks levy, while St. Marys Township seeks police funding and Washington Township and New Knoxville seek 3-mill fire levies.
Wayne and Logan townships want service funding renewed. In Putnam County, Columbus Grove and Pleasant Township fire departments seek a half-mill renewal plus a half-mill increase. Continental, Gilboa, Miller City and Ottawa, plus Greensburg, Jackson, Ottawa, Palmer, Perry and Union townships, request levies for safety services, roads and current expenses.
Registration or updates are due in roughly three weeks; early and absentee voting begins Oct. 6.
