Logan County has been recognized by the Ohio Auditor of State's office for a clean financial audit. Auditor Jack Reser accepted the award Tuesday afternoon during a presentation at the Logan County Commissioners Office, according to Peak of Ohio.
Joe Braden, who directs regional liaisons for the auditor's office, presented the honor on behalf of Auditor Keith Faber. The award goes to local governments and school districts that show excellence in financial reporting and accounting.
To qualify, entities must submit their financial reports on schedule, adhere to generally accepted accounting principles, and complete an audit free of significant findings, deficiencies or questioned costs. The auditor's office reviews roughly 4,200 entities each year from a pool of almost 6,000, and only a select number receive the award.
During the presentation, Braden credited Logan County employees, financial staff and the County Auditor's Office with maintaining strong financial practices and accountability. He also praised the commissioners and county administrator for their oversight of county finances, and singled out Reser for leadership, professionalism and dedication to fiscal integrity.
The recognition is tied to the county's financial management and reporting practices, which the auditor's office said help maintain public trust and oversight of taxpayer dollars.
