Lucas County prosecutors have received the file in the fatal shooting of Christian Strassburg, a 35-year-old man killed by a hospital officer, according to WTVG.
The shooting took place in June outside the emergency department at Mercy Health St. Charles Hospital. According to authorities cited by the station, an altercation occurred between Strassburg and an officer, and that officer fired the shots that killed him.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation opened the inquiry, and WTVG's I-TEAM reported that the case was later transferred to the county prosecutor's office. A spokesperson for the prosecutor told the station that the matter remains under review and that arranging a grand jury presentation is the next step.
The station did not provide a grand jury timetable or report a charging decision. The station's report did not identify the officer involved or describe what prompted the altercation.
