Youngstown's Mahoning County Juvenile Court has been awarded $24,751.80 by the Supreme Court of Ohio for technology, according to WFMJ.

The money is designated for upgrades intended to improve remote participation, hearing capacity and routine court efficiency. Planned items include video conferencing gear and transcription tools that turn spoken proceedings into searchable written records.

Mahoning County Juvenile Prosecutor Gina DeGenova said reliable equipment should let the professionals tied to a family's case — including multiple providers and agencies — take part with less friction and help matters move forward promptly. Judge Theresa Dellick said the funding also simplifies certain employee tasks and described technology as essential to keeping proceedings accessible and responsive to the children and families who appear in the court.
