Montgomery County's Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services board will administer a federally funded program aimed at residents who are homeless and also living with behavioral health conditions, according to WDTN.

The grant is named Safety Through Recovery, Engagement, and Evidence-based Treatment and Support, or STREETS. It pays the agency $3 million annually for four years, for a total of $12 million.

Kimberly Priester, who directs treatment and supportive services at ADAMHS, said statewide figures show that 67 percent of Ohioans without stable housing have been diagnosed with a mental health condition and 20 percent have a substance use diagnosis. She said that points to a need for more help connecting homeless residents with behavioral health services available locally.

The report describes the money as federal but does not identify which agency awarded it. No start date or timeline for the program was given in the source.
