North Central Ohio Educational Service Center consultant Kayla Heimann has been chosen for the Ohio Space Grant Consortium's STEM Ambassador Program, according to Crawford County Now.
The outlet reported that her selection came from a competitive field of applicants from around Ohio. The consortium operates as part of NASA's National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program, and its ambassador initiative is intended to help educators, students and young professionals carry out STEM outreach in their communities.
Per the report, Heimann will receive backing to create and lead outreach projects aimed at connecting students with real-world applications and STEM career paths. She is also expected to work alongside consortium staff plus academic and industry partners to link education with future employment.
The program, the outlet said, provides access to lectures by NASA and Ohio STEM professionals, mentorship and networking, and workshops focused on leadership and communication. Those resources are expected to feed back into her work with area school districts.
Crawford County Now described the selection as reflecting NCOESC's goal of widening opportunities for the students and districts it serves, and said Heimann will encourage students to explore their interests and consider themselves future STEM leaders.
