Ohio's transportation agency says the State Route 82 bridge over the Cuyahoga River Valley needs a lasting remedy rather than continued patchwork repairs.

According to the Ohio Department of Transportation, recent inspections of the Summit County structure turned up what the agency characterizes as advanced deterioration in components it considers structurally critical. ODOT says its maintenance program has already handled pressing deficiencies, but that a permanent fix remains necessary.

The bridge, which links Brecksville and Sagamore Hills Township, dates to 1931 and runs 1,133 feet. ODOT says the project remains in the study phase, and the agency is gathering public feedback on social, environmental and economic effects.

The information released does not include a cost estimate, a construction timeline or a preferred design option. It also does not identify when the comment period closes or what specific alternatives are under consideration. The bridge's condition findings are attributable to ODOT, and no independent inspection data or outside engineering assessment was provided in the material reviewed.
