An Oct. 15, 2026, bulletin from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce points to recent Ohio School Report Card results and offers test security reminders for the fall administration of Ohio’s State Tests.

According to the department, English language arts proficiency statewide reached a five-year high of 62.2%. Math proficiency also hit a five-year high, the bulletin says, while attendance improved and more students showed readiness for college, careers, the workforce and military service. The department credited Ohio educators for those results.

For testing, the bulletin notes that state law and administrative rules establish test security expectations. It says the department recently posted its annual update to the Ohio Test Security Provisions and Procedures and encourages schools to review that guide alongside local protocols.

The department says it will run additional district- and building-level analyses after each testing window using vendor data. Schools or districts with unusually high numbers or percentages of flagged tests may be contacted to clarify circumstances, according to the bulletin. It stresses that a flagged test or statistical anomaly does not by itself prove misconduct or invalidate a student’s score; instead, it may indicate a pattern differing from statewide trends that warrants a closer look.

The bulletin directs questions to TestSecurity@education.ohio.gov and points to the department’s Test Security Webpage.
