The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce issued a bulletin about Math Achievement Plans. Under state law, schools must develop these plans when 51 percent or less of their students score proficient on the Grade 3 math state test. The requirement begins in the 2026–2027 school year.

However, the bulletin states that the determination of which schools must write a plan will depend on Spring 2027 Grade 3 math test results. Those results will identify the schools responsible for creating plans for the 2027–2028 school year.

Schools required to write a plan must choose a core math curriculum from the Department's approved High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) list. The bulletin says the HQIM list is expected to be released in April. The Department noted the importance of having that list available during plan development. According to the bulletin, using Spring 2027 test data supports both timely planning and compliance with the law.
