The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce is preparing to submit a waiver request to the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). This request aims to prolong the usage period for certain Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Title funds from fiscal year 2024. Should the waiver not be granted, the funds would no longer be available after September 30, 2026.
The waiver would allow an additional year for the following awards: the Title I, Part A award, which supports low-performing schools through initiatives for school improvement and direct student services, as well as the Title I, Part D, Subpart 1 award, which benefits students in institutional settings.
These funds are critical for delivering quality education and support services. The Department is soliciting public comments until the end of the comment period on September 30, 2026.
