Pickaway County Clerk of Courts Grant Davis said the county Title Department has reached an agreement with the Ohio Department of Public Safety that will bring driver examinations to Circleville.
Under the arrangement, applicants would no longer need to cross into neighboring counties to take their tests, a trip the announcement says had been required previously. According to the announcement, local testing has not been offered in Circleville for many years.
The initial schedule calls for examinations during regular business hours on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Both scheduled appointments and walk-in visits are to be accepted.
Davis said his office coordinated closely with the state Bureau of Motor Vehicles on the rollout, and he described the change as filling a need in Pickaway County.
Officials also intend to extend testing hours later as the program develops, with the stated goal of serving more county residents. Details about hours, scheduling and availability are to be published at pickawaycountyclerk.com once the program gets underway. The announcement did not specify a start date for testing.
