A winter overnight shelter run by Home Is The Foundation is now accepting guests in Eaton, according to a notice issued by Preble County. The Cold Shelter serves people experiencing homelessness as well as anyone who needs relief from cold weather, the county said.

The site, at 2009 U.S. 127 N., operates each night from 7:30 p.m. until 8:30 a.m. and will stay open through March 31, 2027. Those staying receive an evening meal, a bed for the night, breakfast and a packed lunch, according to the notice.

Booking ahead is suggested but not mandatory. People who need a place to stay can reach the shelter at 937-472-0500, ext. 422, for details and help. Other assistance may be offered to those who meet eligibility rules, the county said.

County officials asked residents, community groups, businesses and emergency responders to circulate the information so people across Preble County know the shelter exists, and urged community members to help get the word out.

The notice did not specify capacity limits, eligibility requirements for the additional resources, or whether transportation is offered.
