Preble County commissioners designated September 2026 as Suicide Prevention Awareness Month during their Sept. 9 regular session, according to the county's announcement. The proclamation calls for community support to reduce stigma and improve awareness.

The county highlighted the work of its Suicide Prevention Coalition, including efforts to encourage people to seek help. The Mental Health & Recovery Board is inviting residents to learn about prevention and take part in awareness activities.

Commissioners asked residents, schools, businesses, public agencies and other local organizations to support those efforts.

For emotional support, call or text 988. The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline says its support is free, confidential and available around the clock. More information is available at https://988lifeline.org/.
