The Ohio Department of Transportation has scheduled highway work in Fayette County, including a five-day shutdown of U.S. 22 west of Washington Court House.
Between Mount Olive and Bush roads, U.S. 22 is closed through Sept. 18 so crews can replace a culvert, according to the agency. Drivers are being routed onto U.S. 35, State Route 435 and State Route 729. The project had been set for August but was pushed back to accommodate the relocation of a utility line.
Separately, the new roundabout at U.S. 22 and Jamison Road in Washington Court House now operates in its final configuration and is open in both directions, ODOT said. Finishing work may bring intermittent daytime restrictions and flaggers, with an estimated completion date of September 2026.
ODOT advises motorists to stay alert, reduce speed and watch for stopped traffic in work zones, and to move over or slow down for roadside workers. All scheduled work is weather permitting.
