On Sept. 19, employees from Killbuck Savings Bank and players from the West Holmes boys soccer team volunteered at the annual Holmes County Home Benefit Auction, according to Your Ohio News. The event raises support for residents through donations and purchases, and the source reported that volunteers also serve at the auction.

Courtney Baird, of Killbuck Savings Bank, attended with her daughters Paisley and Kaylin. They cleaned trays for attendees who chose the full-course meal. Baird said the bank sent employees an email inviting them to volunteer, and she responded quickly. She said this was her first year volunteering for the event with her daughters, calling it an opportunity to teach them about serving the community.

West Holmes boys head soccer coach Josh Wengerd brought players to help. Grayson Uhl, son of Holmes County Home maintenance director Reece Uhl, was among the players. Some parked cars, while others carried items to the auction area. Wengerd said the team usually has a game that conflicts with the auction, but not this year, and a little over a dozen players volunteered. He described the experience as a learning moment about community service.

The county home's executive director, identified as Miller, thanked volunteers and supporters during the auction. She said the event has continued for 55 years and that proceeds return to the Holmes County Home. Miller said the day centers on the home and its residents.
