Agricultural producers in the Bucyrus area can consider two financing tools as harvest wraps up, according to a Crawford County Now report published Oct. 6, 2026. The report said Ashley Lutz of AgCredit's Bucyrus office appeared on Community Spotlight to describe grain inventory loans and the state Ag Link program.
Grain inventory loans, per Lutz, let farmers use harvested bushels as collateral. The bushels may be stored on-farm or at a local elevator. The resulting operating funds can be directed toward pre-purchasing seed, fertilizer and other supplies. Lutz said the approach is useful when capital is tied up ahead of the next crop year, and applicants should give their local loan officer updated financial statements, balance sheets and tax records.
Lutz also pointed to Ag Link, which the Ohio Treasurer's Office administers. The program allows qualifying farmers with an operating loan or line of credit to lower and lock in an interest rate for a 12-month period, with no application fee. AgCredit is the largest participant in the program in Ohio, according to the report, and applications are accepted during quarterly windows statewide.
