LIMA, Ohio — The Allen County Veterans Service Commission is preparing to relocate across the street into the new Allen County Government Center, and staff have begun packing, according to WLIO.

Administrative services will be suspended for one week during the move. Transportation and emergency help will not stop, executive director Tamara Wilson said. She said the transportation phone line remains open so veterans can still get to and from appointments, and that an emergency message left during the closure can be returned. Routine paperwork and other administrative work will wait until the staff is situated, she said.

Wilson said the commission hopes to be operating again in the new building on Oct. 19.

The relocation lines up with a change to the commission's holiday assistance. Instead of two separate $50 vouchers, one for Thanksgiving and one for Christmas, veterans may sign up for a single $100 voucher. The commission's number, 419-223-8522, is the contact for details on the new process.

WLIO is a station based in Lima.
