The Athens County Port Authority dedicated its new ACPA Spec Building in honor of Jack A. Bortle, according to an authority announcement published by the Athens County Independent on September 14.
Bortle served on the authority’s board for 29 years, including 16 years as chair. In its announcement, the authority credited his leadership with supporting economic development in Athens County.
County commissioners presented Bortle with a resolution recognizing his service to the Port Authority and the Athens County Economic Development Council. The authority said the manufacturing building bearing his name would serve as a lasting tribute.
