Avita Health System marked employee milestones at its annual Years of Service & Excellence Celebration in Galion, honoring more than 140 workers whose tenure with the organization ranged from a decade to half a century, Crawford County Now reported.

Lu Ellen Ness, a medical laboratory technician, was among those recognized and was cited for 50 years with the health system.

The program also acknowledged staff for patient care, teamwork and service to the organization. Five nurses received the DAISY Award for Nursing Excellence, while non-nursing employees were recognized with the Monarch Award for their effect on the patient and family experience. The names of those individual recipients did not appear in the source text provided.

Two honors were presented for the first time. Misty Crank-Holsey, a unit coordinator in the Galion Emergency Department, received the inaugural Avita Pillar Award for supporting patients and colleagues and fostering teamwork. Terry Sheets, director of IS operations and infrastructure, received the inaugural Avita Emerald Award for leadership, innovation, mentorship and contributions to the organization.

Jessica Geyer, director of recruitment and engagement, said in remarks released with the announcement that the celebration is among her favorite events because it allows Avita to recognize employees whose dedication and compassion have affected patients, coworkers and communities, and she called it an honor to celebrate them.

According to the announcement, the celebration reflects Avita's stated mission of delivering healthcare across north central Ohio.
