New Day Ministries Outreach, a Bucyrus nonprofit that has operated for more than two decades, is asking the community to fund a complete roof replacement at its facility. The organization, located at 133 North Sandusky Avenue, says the building has developed serious leaks. According to the ministry, water intrusion now endangers donated clothing, household items and food supplies held at the center.
Staff reported that requests for emergency food assistance have climbed by more than 37 percent in recent months, stretching the center's capacity. They described the deteriorating roof as a safety concern for volunteers and for the residents the ministry serves, and said the work must happen soon so the center can keep operating in a safe, dry space.
The emergency project is estimated to cost more than $80,000. Because the nonprofit relies on community support, it is appealing to local residents and businesses to help cover the shortfall, the outlet reported. Money given to the roof replacement fund is described as tax-deductible and designated for the materials and labor needed to secure the building.
Donations can be sent by check made out to "New Day Ministries," with "roof fund" noted on the memo line, to 133 North Sandusky Avenue, Bucyrus, Ohio 44820. The ministry can be reached at (419) 617-7423 for more information.
