Clinton County's adult jail has been designated a Certified Jail by the state after its annual inspection found full compliance with applicable standards.
Sheriff Doug Eastes said his office received the results on Sept. 30 from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction's Bureau of Adult Detention. The 2026 review weighed 56 essential standards along with 139 important ones, and the facility met every essential and important standard that applied to it, according to the inspection report. That showing produced the Certified Jail designation under the Ohio Administrative Code. State standards for county jails are set by Ohio, and jails across the state are inspected each year to check compliance.
Eastes credited the corrections staff, pointing to their daily work, professionalism and dedication as the reason for the recognition. He said the certification reflects the Corrections Division's continued commitment to operating a safe, secure and professional facility.
The sheriff's office is also hiring corrections officers, with applications available on the website's careers page.
