Columbus city employees may choose their 2027 benefits during an open enrollment window that begins Oct. 26 and closes Nov. 27, 2026, according to a City of Columbus benefits bulletin dated Oct. 13, 2026.
Elections are made in Dayforce, the bulletin states. Employees who want to keep their current coverage are not required to do anything.
One group faces an extra step. Workers enrolled in a high-deductible health plan who make employee contributions to a health savings account must resubmit those contributions annually, because payroll withholdings do not carry over on their own. Those employees must use Dayforce during the enrollment window to renew or revise 2027 HSA withholdings.
Two vendor transitions take effect Jan. 1, 2027. Vision Service Plan becomes the city's vision provider, and MetLife becomes its life insurance and short-term disability provider.
The Employee Benefits and Wellness office has launched a new benefits website and scheduled provider webinars for employees. CME Federal Credit Union covers HDHP and HSA topics Oct. 14 from noon to 1 p.m.; Anthem and VSP cover medical and vision plans Oct. 21, noon to 1 p.m.; CVS covers the pharmacy plan Oct. 29, noon to 1 p.m.; and MetLife covers life insurance and short-term disability Nov. 4, noon to 12:45 p.m. A Delta Dental session will be announced later.
The benefits office is located at 77 North Front Street, first floor, Columbus, and is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
