Columbus employees are being asked to take part in a fall citywide litter cleanup scheduled for Friday, Oct. 23. The city bulletin describes the spring-and-fall event as a shared effort to keep Columbus clean and attractive.

During the 2026 spring cleanup, employee volunteer teams gathered more than 11,760 pounds of litter from streets, alleys, parks and other public spaces, according to the bulletin. The Department of Public Service and Keep Columbus Beautiful organize the cleanups, and the notice says friendly competition among departments and divisions is encouraged.

Employees can begin organizing now by choosing a team captain and registering. On Oct. 23, groups may work in a designated area from 9 to 11 a.m. or 1 to 3 p.m., or select another time that day. Participants are told to check with their supervisor to confirm that participation fits into regular workday activities.

Registration is available, and questions can be sent to keepcolumbusbeautiful@columbus.gov. Keep Columbus Beautiful will deliver needed supplies to a convenient location so each team can conduct a safe cleanup.
