Department staff at the City of Columbus have a slate of October activities and administrative deadlines outlined in the Oct. 6, 2026 Weekly Playbook.
A fall staff luncheon hosted by the C.R.E.A.T.E. Committee takes place Friday, Oct. 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1533 Alum Industrial Drive. Attendance costs $10 in cash, because the committee cannot process credit or debit cards. Burgers, hot dogs and other food will be served until the supply runs out or the hour ends.
Benefits open enrollment runs Oct. 22 through Nov. 27; the bulletin says further details are coming.
Staff are invited to a litter cleanup at Rhodes Park, 1910 W. Broad St., on Friday, Oct. 9, from 10 a.m. to noon. The bulletin asks participants to wear closed-toed shoes and clothes that can get messy, and to bring sunscreen, water and bug spray. Supplies are furnished, and sign-up is required.
The fall Quarterly Staff Leadership Meeting is set for Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 1 to 3 p.m., in the Continental Room at 1111 E. Broad St. Leadership updates are on the agenda, and questions may be submitted online anonymously for possible discussion and later publication.
Remote access to the city network requires a supervisor to file a Workspace ONE request for each employee. Anyone who had an account before June 2024 and has not requested access since must repeat the process. Access is available from computers in the United States through myworkspace.columbus.gov.
Recurring free fitness classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:25 a.m. to noon in the Hungry Soldier Room, and the annual C.R.E.A.T.E. Committee golf outing is set for Oct. 11 at Mentel Memorial Golf Course.
The playbook also praises Gardener Supervisor Todd Keferl of the Parks section, whose crew built a grow room at the 1511 building and produced plants the department values at $2,269.06 in retail cost.
