Columbus residents have until Oct. 24 to submit comments on the second phase of the city's zoning code overhaul, according to a City of Columbus bulletin dated Oct. 13.
Phase II continues an effort to rewrite a code originally adopted more than seven decades ago, the city says. The current draft would address additional mixed-use corridors, industrial and warehouse districts, and major business and institutional campuses.
City officials describe the aims as producing rules that are easier to understand and anticipate, opening more chances for housing, and positioning Columbus for continued growth.
Feedback gathered during the comment window will help shape possible changes to the proposal before it reaches Columbus City Council, the bulletin states. A Phase II overview, the complete draft code and maps are posted on the Zone In website.
An in-person option is available at the Zone In Public Gallery, 141 N. Front Street, where interactive exhibits and maps are on display and staff can answer questions. Regular hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday; visitors may drop in or book an appointment, and the city advises checking the website first because hours can change on certain days.
