Crawford County residents grieving a lost loved one can attend a Memory Bear workshop set for Oct. 29 at the Crawford Success Center in Bucyrus, running 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Cornerstone of Hope and the Mid-Ohio Traumatic Loss Response Team are organizing the event, according to Crawford County Now. Attendees convert fabric — clothing, blankets or other items connected to someone who has died — into a stuffed keepsake bear. Volunteer seamstresses sew the bear shells beforehand; participants then fill them, tuck handwritten notes inside and finish the stitching themselves, the outlet reported.

Kim Turner of Cornerstone of Hope described the organization as an umbrella for comprehensive services, the report said, citing individual counseling, support groups and youth grief camps offered across central Ohio.

Registration and material submission were due Sept. 28 so seamstresses would have time to build the shells. The outlet directed sign-ups to cornerstoneofhope.org/MOTLRT through the events tab, or to a QR code on the Crawford County Now community calendar.

Beyond the workshop, two recurring Crawford County meetings are offered: the Survivors of Suicide Loss Group, meeting the second Thursday monthly, 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Bucyrus's Crawford Success Center; and a session on the second Saturday monthly, 10:30 a.m. to noon, at Wesley Chapel in Galion.

Because this brief was drafted Oct. 1, the Sept. 28 preregistration deadline had already passed; the source does not say whether late sign-ups or future sessions will be possible.
