Crawford County residents age 60 and older can get help with Medicare decisions and heating bills this fall through the county's Council on Aging, the agency says.
Medicare open enrollment is scheduled to run from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7. Tiffany Crider, the council's information and referral coordinator, said beneficiaries should recheck their prescription drug coverage each year because premiums, deductibles, drug lists and pharmacy networks can change. She recommends scheduling appointments early and bringing current medication lists and insurance cards.
The council also is helping residents apply for the Home Energy Assistance Program, or HEAP, to offset heating costs as temperatures drop.
Two fall events are planned: an Anthem MyCare Lunch and Learn on Oct. 13 at 1 p.m., and a Legal Aid presentation on health care advance directives on Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. Christina handles RSVPs at 419-562-3050, ext. 226.
For resources or utility support, the council can be reached at 419-562-3050, with Tiffany at ext. 229. The agency also points residents to its website and Facebook page.
