Cuyahoga County’s Medicaid Access Team says a federal law change will introduce a community-engagement requirement on January 1, 2027, for some adults covered through Medicaid’s Group VIII expansion category.
The county’s official guidance describes a monthly requirement of at least 80 hours of work or approved activities for affected adults ages 19 through 64. It lists work, education, certain job training and community service among the activities that can be combined. The requirement does not apply to every adult, and exemptions may apply.
The county asks recipients to keep contact and case information current and respond to requests for verification. It lists the Medicaid Consumer Hotline at 800-324-8680, with TTY 711, for questions.
The official guidance is available at https://cuyahogacounty.gov/medicaid-access-team. Individual eligibility depends on the applicable rules and circumstances.
