Darke County Airport has added a community box hangar, with county commissioners and the local Chamber of Commerce marking its opening at a ribbon-cutting, My County Link reported on Sept. 18.

The addition comes alongside other airport improvements: a new terminal, two new hangars and removal of the former terminal building, according to the report. Jacob Eiting, who built a separate private hangar nearby, also spoke at the ceremony.

Commissioner Aaron Flatter described the airport as a connection for businesses and credited several generations of county leaders with advancing its development.

Dave Burrows of the Dayton Development Coalition said expanded aviation facilities could help the region attract aircraft and parts businesses. Those comments describe economic-development ambitions; the report did not announce a new company locating at the airport.
