The Darke County Senior Center in Greenville recently held two food-centered programs, according to a My County Link listing of center activities. Sean Strawser, of Beanz Buttercream Bakery and Eatery, demonstrated pecan-and-cinnamon pinwheels, and each person who attended took one home. A separate session, Eat More Veggies, was presented by Eileen Litchfield and featured vegetables prepared in varied ways, including dips, sauces, roasting and light glazing.
Three upcoming programs require advance sign-ups. A road trip on Friday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. heads to Quiet Harmony Ranch in New Paris, Ohio, with RSVPs due Oct. 23, a $13 all-day senior pass at the entrance and carpooling from the center. On Monday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m., the Greenville High School Wavaires show choir performs roughly 45 minutes of fall concert music, a Halloween-themed set and an Armed Forces tribute; donations go to the Wavaires and RSVPs are due Oct. 26.
Also on Nov. 2, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Leigh Fletcher of Friends on Board previews a 2027 travel schedule of motorcoach and flight trips open to the public ages 12 and older, with no admission charge and RSVPs due Oct. 26. Snacks will be provided.
The center is at 5844 Jaysville-St. Johns Rd., Greenville. Activities are open to ages 55 and up with a $2 annual membership; sign-ups are taken at the center or by text or call to (937) 794-2556 during office hours, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
