Data-center development is prompting petition drives and proposed ballot measures across Ohio, according to a September 14 Ohio Capital Journal report covering 18 communities. The report describes proposals at different stages, including measures affected by legal disputes.
Campaigns discussed by the publication include efforts in Conneaut, Defiance, Granville, Oregon, Pataskala, Piqua, Sunbury, Trenton and Upper Sandusky. Some proposals target data centers, while others concern zoning or public votes on industrial development.
The report also describes litigation and election-board decisions involving Wilmington and other cities. A petition drive is not the same as a certified ballot item. This overview concerns the reported proposals; it does not claim that every proposal is approved for the November ballot.
