Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has declared a state of emergency covering 19 counties after widespread flooding, according to WTAP.

The Tuesday afternoon proclamation followed a visit by the governor to Vinton County, where WTAP reported he met with residents, first responders and local officials.

Three counties affected by the declaration are located in the Mid-Ohio Valley, the station reported. The full list comprises Athens, Clermont, Gallia, Greene, Highland, Jackson, Logan, Meigs, Mercer, Montgomery, Morgan, Muskingum, Perry, Pickaway, Pike, Preble, Ross, Van Wert and Vinton.

Under the order, state departments and agencies are directed to supply services, equipment, supplies and personnel to support cleanup efforts, per WTAP.

DeWine said the state is coordinating with local officials to deliver resources for response and recovery, the station reported.

The declaration was signed Tuesday, the same day DeWine met officials and residents in Vinton County, according to WTAP.
