A fire broke out Monday evening in an unoccupied apartment building still under construction near Altizer, according to Cabell County 911 dispatchers.

Dispatchers placed the call shortly after 5:30 p.m. along Childers Way. They told WSAZ the blaze was under control at the time of the report, and that no one had been hurt.

Because the units were not yet lived in, only construction workers were on site when the fire began, dispatchers said.

Barboursville firefighters at the scene told the outlet that the flames stayed inside one room on the third floor and were held there in roughly five minutes. Responding departments included Barboursville, Ohio River Road, Ona and Green Valley, with assistance from crews in Wayne County, West Virginia, and Lawrence County, Ohio.

The fire marshal has been contacted as part of the investigation, according to the report. No cause or damage estimate was released. WSAZ said further updates would follow.
