Four members of Williams County Emergency Medical Services have been named recipients of the Robert F. Flightner Memorial Scholarship, a $1,200 award, according to The Village Reporter.
The recipients are paramedics and emergency medical technicians Damon Beltz, Joshua Benarth, Jesse Brumbaugh and John Noyes.
The money is designated to help each of them enroll in the Advanced Tactical Operations Medical Specialist Course at the Ohio Fire Academy. That course leads to a specialized Tactical Emergency Medical Services certification accredited in Ohio, the report states.
According to the report, the instruction is expected to strengthen an existing partnership between Williams County EMS and the Williams County Sheriff's Office, with the stated goals of a safer community and life-saving protection for tactical operators in the county.
The report also notes that the Bryan Area Foundation can be contacted by anyone wanting to establish a continuing education scholarship for a student who returns to school while remaining in the workforce.
