XENIA, Ohio — Greene County Food Pantry has scheduled a community food drive for Sunday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Walmart on 70 Hospitality Drive in Xenia.
Members of the pantry's board of directors plan to be present throughout the day to meet donors, field questions about the organization and share information about its work.
Community Outreach Manager Stacie Parsons said the pantry's focus is on people and on making a difference in their lives. She pointed to new collection barrels placed around the county as an option for residents who cannot attend the drive, and said food may also be dropped off at the pantry itself Monday through Thursday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Figures the pantry provided for 2025 indicate that more than 23,000 people in Greene County experience food insecurity, among them nearly 5,400 children. The organization also reports that individual donations account for close to 24 percent of the food it hands out, a share it describes as making community drives important.
Parsons said each donation supports the pantry's efforts on behalf of neighbors.
The drive is scheduled two days after this brief was prepared.
