A Groveport Madison school bus ran off Chatterton Road in the Blacklick Estates area southeast of Columbus on the morning of Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, and hit a utility pole, according to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.

The driver lost control close to the Fleet Road intersection, the sheriff's office said. A photograph the agency released shows the bus moving into a home's back yard, crossing a fence and shearing the pole off at its base. The vehicle ended up with the pole resting against its right side.

A Groveport Madison representative said the bus was carrying students to Bryce Christian School, roughly a few blocks east of where the crash happened.

According to the district, nobody was hurt. The driver and the students on board came away without injuries, and a district spokesperson said those involved were safe and that the scene appeared worse than the outcome.

Chatterton Road was shut between Renfro Road and Fontaine Road while the crash was under investigation, per the sheriff's office.
