MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ohio — A food distribution at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds drew hundreds of vehicles on Thursday morning, according to WHIO-TV.
Volunteers from the FoodBank and CareSource handed out groceries, including chicken drumsticks, as well as pet food and toothbrushes, the station reported. WHIO's Trinity Corbett covered the pickup.
Amber Wright, described as development director for Food Bank Inc., said the effort addresses food insecurity and eases pressure on families with very tight budgets while also offering what she called wraparound services. She said hunger is a complex problem that food alone will not resolve.
Jesse Reed, senior director of life services at CareSource, said the aim is to get food to the people who need it most.
Alyson Allen, identified as a community member, said the distributions are needed and described the event as a way for residents to help one another.
WHIO reported that Montgomery County carries the highest overall food-insecurity rating among comparable neighboring counties, citing the Map Meal Gap of 2025, with more than 114,000 residents affected. Wright said a pantry locator tool allows residents to search by ZIP code for a nearby food pantry.
