Keep Columbus Beautiful's October 2026 bulletin asks for volunteers at two upcoming events and recaps two September gatherings, according to the city's official bulletin.
For the Columbus Marathon, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 18, the organization and Coca-Cola Consolidated are recruiting people to keep beverage containers in the recycling stream instead of the trash. Helpers will collect, sort and recycle bottles and cans across the event. Shifts are available throughout, and each volunteer receives a custom Coca-Cola quarter-zip and a hat.
A tree-planting event at Woodward Nature Preserve is set for Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 9 a.m. to noon, with Keep Ohio Beautiful and Columbus Recreation and Parks. Volunteers are asked to bring gloves to plant native trees and shrubs.
The bulletin also looks back. On Sept. 29, Keep Columbus Beautiful and Columbus Food Rescue convened residents to talk about food waste as part of The Big Table, an initiative of The Columbus Foundation; discussion covered current successes, remaining obstacles and further chances to cut waste. On Sept. 20, more than 100 people turned out for the annual Scioto Sweep. Storms ended the work early, yet an estimated 4,597 pounds of litter were still gathered.
The bulletin additionally links to items on Columbus's litter index, free trees from Green Columbus, and packaging and recycling, without further detail in the text provided.
