Knox County Ohio Indivisible and organizers of Signs on the Square say they will use a downtown Mount Vernon gathering to encourage early voting. The next No Kings event, called No Kings: Vote Early, is set for Saturday, Oct. 17, 1-2 p.m. Organizers describe it as a collaboration and say it will differ from earlier No Kings actions by focusing on voter participation rather than protest alone.

According to the organizations, the event is nonpartisan and intended to increase turnout among eligible voters. Signs on the Square organizer Joan Slonczewski said participants have seen powerful figures act as if they are above the law and the public will, and she said the event aims to turn that response into a plan for early voting. KCOI co-chair Laurie Finke said the group has been encouraged by community reaction and hopes the momentum continues.

Organizers say all No Kings events are committed to nonviolent action and ask participants to de-escalate disagreements and follow the law. Weapons, including legally permitted ones, should be left at home, they say. They also ask that signs address voting and early voting rather than specific candidates or issues.
