The Knox County Board of Developmental Disabilities said two employees were honored during the 2026 Synergy Ohio Conference. According to the agency, Andrew Taylor, who serves as shared director of service and support administration for Knox and Coshocton Counties, received the Leadership Award. Heather White, a service and support administrator, received the Ultimate Teamwork Award.

The agency said the recognitions go to professionals who show service, innovation and collaboration while working to create opportunities for people with developmental disabilities. Superintendent and CEO Steve Oster described Taylor and White as strong advocates who approach their work with compassion, build relationships and persist in helping people reach their goals. He also said the agency is proud to see their work acknowledged statewide.

The announcement credited Taylor with expanding inclusion and community engagement through initiatives such as self-advocate leadership programs, ICan Bike, family support efforts, accessibility projects and community partnerships. It said he has worked to turn disability-focused events into broader community opportunities and to increase collaboration between counties.

For White, the agency cited collaboration and problem-solving with individuals, families, providers and community partners. It said her work has supported self-advocacy, independence and inclusion, and noted her role as a mentor and resource in areas including aging services, nursing home transitions and PASRR evaluations. The board said it supports people with developmental disabilities and their families by promoting inclusion, independence and meaningful community life.
